3 Days Queen Elizabeth Uganda Safari


The park forms part of an extensive system of contiguous protected areas, namely the Kigezi (265km2) and Kyambura (154km2) Wildlife Reserves, Kalinzu Forest Reserve, Kibale National Park (766km2) and, in neighbouring DRC, the 2000km2 Virunga National Park. Rwenzori Mountains National Park lies a few kilometres north.

Flora and fauna

Queen Elizabeth has upto 95 mammal species while the birdlist is 612 species long. result of an . Fifty-seven vegetation types have been confirmed to be there though these can be summarised as five: forest, grassland, bushy grassland, Acacia woodland and lakeshore/ swamp vegetation. Residents of the park's grasslands include elephant, Cape buffalo, Uganda kob, waterbuck, warthog, giant forest hog, lion, leopard and hyaena.Forest primates are found in Kyambura Gorge and Maramagambo Forest.The park's impressive birdlist is exceeded only by the neighbouring very large Virunga National Park.

Afew species include: Martial eagle, black-rumped buttonquail, African skimmer, Chapin's flycatcher, pink-backed pelicans, white-winged warbler, papyrus gonolek, papyrus canary, corncrake, lesser and greater flamingo, and shoebill stork. Around the park Mweya Peninsula The peninsula is the hub for tourism activity and accommodation in the central section of the park.

A nature walk with a ranger guide enables you to exploremost parts of the peninsula.

This facility overlooks the scenic Katwe Bay of Lake Edward and contains a souvenir shop and exhibits that describe the national park and its rift valley setting.

Day 1: Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, with lunch en route. With beautiful lakes and rich grasslands which are set deep in the crater valley, this is truly the most breathtaking scenery in the park. The park spreads over an area of 1978 sq kilometers in the western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley 418 km from the capital Kampala and takes approximately 6 hours. The park is a home to a variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, hippos, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, baboons and birds all typical riverrine savannah habitats and the famous Kazinga Channel. In the Southern Parts is the Ishasha sector with the tree climbing lions and the Maramagambo forest, one of the largest surviving natural forests in Uganda Safaris. The Northern part is traversed by the equator and is dominated by the scenery of crater lakes with lots of flamingos. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Bush Lodge.

Day 2: Game drive and Launch Cruise.

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive which reward you with an opportunity to view the big cats as well as a diversity of antelopes, elephants, buffalo, and a number of birds, return to the Lodge for Lunch and some relaxation before, going for an afternoon 2 hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel that connects lake George to Lake Edward. The launch cruise will gift you with a chance to see a number of water birds, hippos, crocodiles, elephants and buffaloes grazing on the shores. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge / Bush Lodge .

Day 3: Drive back to Kampala.

Early morning we depart for Kyambura George, where we climb through a tropical forest to catch a glimpse of a variety of primates including the chimpanzee we return at 12:00pm we have lunch and we prepare our selves for a drive back to Kampala.
